Two New Girl Groups; Lady Collection, Secret

Oh wow, as if there weren't too many of these already allkpop has to go ahead and report that there will be not one, but two new girl groups debuting quite soon.

The first YG Entertainment sponsored group, 'Lady Collection', is a trio of vocal members, one of them being Jieun (JC) who debuted 2 years ago. Their first mini-album is set to release on the 17th of September.

I really don't have much to comment on other than that if YG will stay away (far away) from their 2NE1 concept, I'm fine. Really, they need strong vocalists right now and if this group can pass on the autotune I think YG may have something here.

The second of two, deemed 'Secret', will consist of four members, one of them being Jun Hyo Sung; a recent winner of the audition show "Battle Shinhwa". It is planned that from September 9th on, more members will be gradually revealed, and that on the 21st, the group will be introduced by a reality show titled "Secret Story".

Now this group I really don't know much about other than the aforementioned member being an '88. They seem to be debuting in a similar manner that SNSD did about 2 years ago now, with their 'Girls Go To School' having the same concept.

Honestly I really don't need any more groups to follow. After f(x) just recently debuting, and 4minute making their comeback there's already enough to cover. This is not counting B2ST too, who are pending to make their appearance on the scene in September as well.

You know all this news is making me think of just being a full-time Sone, hopefully they will prove me otherwise.

SBS Inkigayo (September 6th, 2009) - Highlights

Alright, I decided to do one of these recaps today anyways, mainly because it has been quite a slow news day for the most part. This week's Inkigayo lineup featured f(x)'s first debut on the show, the return of TRAX, and a new CF song from Kara.

Though not as strong as their opening performance on Music Core, f(x)'s appearance on Inkigayo also saw the return of front flips and tomboy rapping with their 'Lachata'. They have a long way to go but they've definitely showed that they are capable of a solid live show.

They also hosted their first fan meeting after the performance, drawing in 500 supporters to boot.

I'm not covering 4minute because they've yet to show me anything other than their ability to abuse a specific computer program *ahem* autotune *ahem*.

Aside from performing 'Mister' on yesterday's stage, Kara also brought along their rendition of the 'Blue Sky, Clear city along with Public Transportation' CF, previously endorsed by F.T. Island. Quite cute, and it's for a good cause (I guess).

This week also saw the return of TRAX onto the music scene, after their 3-year-or-so hiatus. Accompanied by Air, a relatively new rock group, the performed 'Fate', which I didn't think sounded bad at all. Aside from F.T. Island, I don't know if there's any other really popular K-rock group, so with this performance those starving for a change of pace may have some salvation.

In other news, 2NE1 performed 'Pretty Boy' instead of their previously promoted 'I don't care' for Inki. In my anti-2ne1 opinion, I didn't mind that they were muted on the stream I was watching yesterday (though quite a few weren't as supportive of this), as 'I don't care' is probably the only good song in that album (sans excessive autotune please).

If you've followed the trend for the past week or so, you might have noticed that G-Dragon has been dominating most of its competition thoroughly. Well, unlike how last week had unexpectedly placed Kara in the winner's spotlight, this week was taken non-surprisingly by the Big Bang soloist himself with "Heartbreaker". Will anything stop all these screaming fan-girls from making GD such a one-sided vote?

Well this ended up being just a consolidation of most of the major stories relating to Inki. It's better than splitting them I guess. Anyways, next week most likely only Music Core and Inkigayo for me (due to school, sadly), hopefully we'll have a winner that isn't named 'G-Dragon'.

Hopefully.

Navi Feature

It seems to me that with this current influx of girl groups, some of the most talented solo singers are receiving as much attention as they should. One of these said singers includes Ahn Ji-ho, otherwise known as Navi, to which I think is a shame that her songs haven't received as much publicity as its quality garners.

Since debuting in April of 2008 with her single, "I Love You", she has released one other hit song, "Heart Damage" featuring Crown J, which were both relatively similar in style. As of now though, Navi's promoting her new dance track titled "Wasteful Tears"; a collaboration between herself and 4minute's Hyuna.

I'll post the three main songs for you guys to listen to. I'm sure you'll agree that she's definitely underrated.

Thanks to a good friend for showing me how great these songs are (you know who you are), hope you all enjoyed it.

4minute vs. f(x)?

While browsing through allkpop for the latest news (like I always do every hour or so), I came across this article which I found quite thought provoking. The past two years have been largely a competition between the two tenacious rivals SNSD and Wondergirls, having songs like Girls' Generation and Tell Me, and Gee and Nobody releasing at similar times. While I don't think either of these groups are losing much of their initial momentum, it does seem to me that a comparable rivalry may be forming with 4minute and f(x).

Though 4minute debuted with the hit single Hot Issue, shortly after they released their new mini album, For Muzik, the MV for its single, Muzik, made its appearance.

On the same day, however, f(x) released the full MV for their debut single, Lachata.

Coincidence? I think not.

Though I wish both groups to be successful, my soshi bias has led me to favor their fellow SM sibling over 4minute (Lachata is too addicting anyways). After watching the two videos, what do you think? Leave a comment if you have questions, or any type of opinion on the issue.
